Clermont, Fla. — East Ridge High School’s Bryce Burchfield is turning heads both on and off the field. The junior cornerback ended up having a breakout junior year. He had a strong season, tallying 25 tackles, including 8 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and 5 quarterback hurries. He worked hard this year to work his way up the depth chart and contributed in many ways to the team’s defense.

(Not only is Bryce a varsity football player but also a terrific scholar. He has a 4.7 GPA.)

Burchfield brings dedication to all areas of his life. Academically, he maintains a fantastic 4.7 GPA and is known for his generosity and eagerness to help others. This dedication, says his father and East Ridge head coach Donnie Burchfield, is rooted in faith. “Bryce loves Jesus and is an extremely hard worker,” Coach Burchfield said, crediting his son’s values for his perseverance and success on the field.

(Head coach Donnie Burchfield is the head coach of East Ridge High and is also the father of Bryce Burchfield.)

Beyond the stats, Bryce’s commitment to his teammates and schoo. He is also an organ donor and signed up to be one last year after being impacted by coach Danny Sams and his incredible double lung replacement story which you can read here. As a junior, he’s already set a high standard, balancing academic excellence and working hard on the football field, while exemplifying everything that a student-athlete should strive to be. While East Ridge High Football’s season has come to a close, it’s been a lot of fun to watch this team continue to build year after year.

Bryce no doubt will come back next year a leader of this team. He’s already a leader in so many ways and so mature for his age. We look forward to his continued success! Way to go Bryce!
