Wildwood Middle High’s Judson Nichols-Webb Claims FHSAA Class 1A State Title in Javelin

WILDWOOD, Fla. — Wildwood Middle High School senior Judson Nichols-Webb delivered a championship performance at the FHSAA Class 1A State Track and Field Championships, launching the javelin 58.54 meters (192 feet) to claim the state title in dominant fashion.
Nichols-Webb outdistanced the competition by a wide margin, beating runner-up William Sloan of Baker High School by 5.18 meters — a staggering 17 feet — to secure the gold medal and solidify his place as the top javelin thrower in Class 1A.
This was the moment he had been working for all year. To be able to bring a state title back to Wildwood means a lot. Despite being a small school, Wildwood packed a punch this year that included a girls basketball state championship along with the girls flag football team finishing as state runner-up among other accomplishments.

The senior’s championship throw not only showcased his strength and technique but also capped off a fantastic senior season that saw him consistently rank among the state’s elite in class 1A. His 58.54-meter throw ranks among the top marks in the state across all classifications and finished the year ranked #8 in the entire state of Florida.
Nichols-Webb wasn’t the only Wildcat to compete in the javelin State event. Teammate Emory Strickland turned in a strong showing of his own, finishing sixth overall with a throw of 47.90 meters (152.2 feet). A very respectable performance and earned him a top 100 ranking in Florida with Strickland finishing the year ranked #95 in the state.
“Both Judson and Emory put in countless hours of work,” said Wildwood head coach Djuan Graham. “Judson’s championship is a reflection of his dedication, and Emory’s top-six finish shows just how deep our team is becoming in events like the javelin.”
With Nichols-Webb and Strickland set to graduate, we wish both the best of luck in their future along with the rest of the Wildwood Middle High School seniors. Congratulations on a fantastic season!
