Armed Man Killed by Lake County Deputies During Domestic Battery Call

Two Lake County sheriff’s deputies responding to an armed domestic battery call ending up killing a man at the home just before 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

“Once our deputies arrived, they were confronted with an individual armed with a handgun whose actions forced our deputies to discharge their firearms,” says sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Vachon. “All law enforcement personnel are safe and uninjured.”

The incident occurred at 10110 Morningside Drive, practically within a stone’s throw of Graceway church.

Traffic on the road leading to Silver Lake Drive was blocked by squad cars and yellow crime scene tape.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident. The deputies have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome, which is standard operating procedure.

The man’s identity and the names of the deputies have not yet been released.
