Lake Minneola Swimmers Sweep Mid Florida Conference, Set Multiple Records in Dominant Performance

The Lake Minneola High School swim team made a splash at the Mid Florida Conference Championships on Saturday, October 18, turning in one of the most dominant performances in program history. Both the boys and girls teams captured first place overall, with the Hawks setting an astounding seven new school records and four new conference records along the way.

The boys team powered to victory with 560 points. That was 254 points ahead of the second-place finisher. The girls team claimed their title with 456 points, outpacing the runner-up by 168 points.

This was an incredible team effort. Every swimmer contributed, and the energy from start to finish was unmatched. Breaking this many records in one meet is a testament to their hard work. This team has really been impressive this season.

Lake Minneola’s record-setting day included seven new school marks:

  • Boys 200 Medley Relay

  • Girls 400 Freestyle Relay

  • Boys 400 Freestyle Relay

  • Boys 500 Freestyle

  • Boys 200 Individual Medley

  • Boys 100 Butterfly

  • Girls 100 Breaststroke

In addition, the Hawks rewrote the Mid Florida Conference record books with four new conference records in the Boys 200 Medley Relay, Boys 100 Butterfly, Boys 500 Freestyle and Boys 400 Freestyle Relay.

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.

Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
