Montverde Academy Volleyball Sweeps Keystone Heights to Advance to Regional Semifinal
The No. 2 seed Montverde Academy girls volleyball team rolled past No. 7 seed Keystone Heights High School 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-11) in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 3A Regional Championship at The Nest on Tuesday evening.
The Eagles were dominant from start to finish, completing the match in just 61 minutes and showcasing their depth with all 15 players seeing action. MVA had an impressive .383 attach percentage as a team, totaling 32 kills with only nine errors on 60 total attacks.

Gabe Carvalho led the way offensively with nine kills and a .636 attack percentage. Eva Bardales was highly efficient, recording four kills on five attempts for an .800 attack percentage, while also adding two service aces and four digs. Suhmer Henriques posted five kills with just one error for a .667 percentage, and Janiyah Miller contributed three kills in the victory.
Setting duties were shared effectively between Isabella Parra and Kristina Vargas. Isabella finished with 12 assists and four service aces, while Kristina tallied 15 assists and three aces. Leticia Cordeiroled the team with five service aces, and Mirea Thederahn added four aces and six digs as Montverde Academy totaled a season-high 19 service aces on the night.

With the win, Montverde Academy advances to the regional semifinal round, where the Eagles will host No. 3 seed McKeel Academy of Technology on Saturday at 2:00 PM. The matchup will be a rematch of last season’s regional semifinal, which MVA won 3-0, as well as the second meeting between the two teams this season. Montverde Academy defeated McKeel 3-1 in their regular-season matchup on September 2.
We also wanted to give a big shoutout to The Villages who are also playing in a Regional Semifinal on Saturday night against Lake Highland Prep who are the one seed. The Villages pulled an upset against Astronaut to earn the opportunity. Good luck to both teams.
Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.
Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
