Jaylen Williams

My proudest moment: Becoming Beacon College’s first national champion in both the 100-meter dash and long jump. It was an unforgettable moment that represented years of hard work and faith in myself.

What keeps me motivated: My biggest motivation is making my family proud and being a good example for my younger siblings. My teammates and coach also push me to do my best—they’re amazing people who make our team feel like a family.

What’s next: I’m focused on building strength and endurance and continuing to develop my skills overall. My next big goal is to hit a 20-foot long jump this season.

Pre-game ritual: I always take a moment to pray before every meet, asking for the strength to do my best and for my teammates to perform their best, too.

My team: My teammates and coach help push me to be my best. They are really amazing and genuine people. Because of that, it’s a good environment for us all to grow together. My coach is very supportive and kind, which helps me to feel proud of my progress.

Off the track: I enjoy staying in shape with outdoor runs and going to the gym with my friends. I also love skateboarding during the off season and listening to high-energy pop music to keep my spirits up.

Biggest inspiration: My mother. Despite every challenge, she’s always done everything she could to help me become the person I am today.

My message: I want my legacy to be one of inspiration and hope. I didn’t start track and field until my senior year of high school, but I found success through perseverance and faith. I hope others see my story and realize that no matter where you are in life, there’s always hope for better days ahead. You just have to believe and never give up on your dreams.
