Lisa Huey Turns Personal Heartbreak into Hope for Women Rediscovering Themselves

Lisa Huey doesn’t shy away from the hard parts of her story. In fact, she’s building a book ministry around them.
“This one is a devotional journal,” she says. “I am working on an actual book, as well, but I don’t quite have the title figured out yet.”
Lisa, who calls herself a “second chance coach,” works primarily with women, helping them untangle shame, lies and long-held wounds.
“You’re never too old to accomplish what God’s purpose is for your life,” she says. “So many people unfortunately get tied up or hung up on the past mistakes and lies that they’ve been believing so I help them expose and overcome that through prayer, repenting and breaking unspoken or spoken agreements.”
Her journal, titled Healed, Whole & Holy, was born out of a 30-day video challenge from her business coaches. Halfway through, inspiration struck and the result was a short, practical devotional with reflection prompts, prayers, gratitude space and QR codes that link readers to her companion videos.
“I personally don’t like super long devotions,” she says.
But the real heart behind her work is deeply personal.

“I discovered at the age of 15 that my dad who raised me wasn’t my biological father and that I was almost aborted,” she says.
Only by “God’s grace,” Lisa says, the doctor was out sick the day her grandmother took her mother to an abortion clinic, a circumstance her mother took as a sign from God to keep her baby. Years later, after a half-hearted attempt at suicide in college followed by a season of healing for Lisa, her biological sister Lori found her.
“I literally felt the weight just lifting off my shoulders,” Lisa says.
Through it all, her husband, Michael Huey, has been her steady support.
“I would say, ‘I need to get away and be by myself to pray and process or whatever,’ and he’d give me the space I would need,” she says. “He’d also challenge me to think of things differently when I would go down a rabbit trail.”
Today, Lisa’s devotional is available on Amazon and through her website, biohackingwithlisa.com, and small groups are already using it together.
“I’d love to see this not just in churches and women’s ministry, but everywhere,” she says, explaining that it’s a “bunch of baloney” to believe we’re alone in our struggles. “We’ve all got more in common than we realize.”
