Mount Dora High School’s Cindy Bellamy Named Lake County Teacher Of The Year!
Education Foundation of Lake County has named their 2025 Lake County School’s teacher of the year! That honor went to Mount Dora High School teacher Cindy Bellamy! Cindy is an amazing teacher and well deserving of the award. The other finalists included Brittany Rudolph Montgomery from Carver Middle School and Karen Kelly from Tavares High School.
Cindy Bellamy won a 2024 Honda Civic from Jenkins Auto Group! On the Mount Dora High School Facebook page the school said “We are so proud of Mrs. Bellamy! Congratulations! We are so lucky that you call MDHS home!”
Not only has Cindy Bellamy done an amazing job in the classroom but the entire school has having a terrific year. Mount Dora High School has the highest graduation rate out of all the Lake County High Schools with a 97% graduation rate! This is due to the leadership provided by Principal Marlene Straughan and all of the faculty and teachers for providing a positive place to go to school.
Mount Dora High School continues to improve not only academically but athletically as well. Even beyond that, alumni members of the school are giving back to the community and it’s a just a wonderful time to be a Hurricane.
A huge thank you to each and every teacher in Lake & Sumter County for what you do. Our teachers are so important to the success of our children. Many of who will be the future leaders of our community and Nation.
Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.
Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
