Callie Godwin, a 4th grade teacher at Aurelia Cole Academy in Clermont, is making waves in the education community as she competes for the title of “America’s Favorite Teacher.” With the potential to win $25,000, a trip to Hawaii, and a feature in Reader’s Digest, Callie is sharing her inspiring journey and seeking support from the community.

Callie’s path to teaching began over 12 years ago when she started working at a school for autism, igniting her passion for making a difference in students’ lives.

“It’s been an incredible journey,” Callie says. “I’ve witnessed my students’ personalities shine and their love for learning flourish. Regardless of the competition, it’s been super humbling to make it this far.”

Callie’s nomination for “America’s Favorite Teacher” came as a surprise recommendation from a colleague, sending her into a competition with over 74,000 teachers across America. After several rounds, Callie has advanced to round 5, showcasing her dedication and impact as an educator.

“My main takeaway from this journey is the incredible impact of those who have poured into me, from my own supportive teachers to colleagues and mentors,” Callie says. “I strive to make learning enjoyable and meaningful for my students, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring together everything I’ve learned along the way.”
