Ava Mason Sets Umatilla High All-Time Soccer Scoring Record
Ava Mason, a senior at Umatilla High School, has made history by setting a new school record for the most combined soccer goals across both the boys and girls programs. In addition to playing for her high school, she also competes for Central Florida Soccer Club.
Ava’s performance this season has left a lasting mark. She ranks 44th nationally in combined goals and assists, seventh in Florida in goals and first in Class 3A in both goals and assists. She also leads District 3A-D6 and the FHSAA in goals.
Over the past four years, she has recorded an impressive 131 goals and 44 assists. Her goal this season was to score 50 goals, a mark she reached with a dominant performance.
Her achievements have set her apart among her peers, earning honors including Top Dog, Most Valuable Player, Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Area and the Outstanding Achievement Award.
Off the field, Ava continues to excel academically. This May, she will graduate with both her high school diploma and an Associate of Arts degree. After graduation, she will attend the University of Central Florida, where she plans to major in biomedical sciences on the neuroscience track. Her goal is to continue to medical school and become a neurologist.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Ava says.
