Billy Goble’s The Goblay Show: Shining a Spotlight on South Sumter Athletics & Beyond

CENTER HILL, Fla. — A passion for sports, a love for storytelling, and a deep connection to his community have all fueled Billy Goble’s journey from the sidelines of South Sumter High School football to the digital airwaves. Now, through his podcast, The Goblay Show, Goble is making a name for himself as a voice for local athletes, coaches, and community leaders.
Born and raised in Sumter County, Goble’s love for sports took root early in Center Hill, Florida. He grew up playing baseball and football, influenced by a family that embraced athletics. His father introduced him to the NFL, igniting a lifelong fandom for the Dallas Cowboys, while his mother’s side of the family carried a deep appreciation for Pittsburgh Pirates baseball.

(Billy Goble is a great podcast host and has showcased so many talented athletes and shared their stories over the past year.)
Goble’s professional career began in entertainment, working at Walt Disney World in 2000 as a Character Attendant and Parade Float Driver. His 17-year tenure at Disney helped hone his skills in audience engagement and production, experience that would later shape his approach to media and storytelling.
In 2006, Goble merged his passion for sports with videography by joining the coaching staff at South Sumter High School. Initially filming games for game analysis, he eventually took on a more creative role, capturing dynamic, close-up content for social media. His ability to showcase the energy and talent of SSHS athletes helped elevate the visibility of local sports.
That experience laid the foundation for The Goblay Show, which launched in March 2023. The podcast highlights the exceptional athletes of South Sumter High School, distinguished alumni, and community figures making an impact. Covering a broad spectrum of sports and entertainment topics, the show features in-depth conversations with guests about their journeys and achievements from high school to professional sports leagues.

Since its debut, The Goblay Show has produced over 100 episodes and amassed a dedicated following across multiple platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, and Spotify. The growing audience is a testament to Goble’s passion for storytelling and community engagement. The one thing South Sumter is all about is community. It’s an old school type area of our county where generations of families have attended South Sumter High School.
“It’s been an incredible experience meeting new people, hearing their stories, and sharing their journeys,” Goble said. “I’ve loved reconnecting with familiar faces and reliving moments that shaped my path and theirs as well. This podcast is more than just a show—it’s about celebrating our community and the people who make it special.”
With each episode, Goble continues to shine a light on South Sumter’s sports culture while fostering connections that extend beyond the field. It’s awesome to see him bringing recognition to the athletes and individuals who shape the heart of the community of Center Hill and Bushnell. One thing is certain at South Sumter High School, “Tradition Never Graduates”. That’s a motto the school has been saying for a long-time and it is so true. Many of the former athletes who took part in South Sumter High School athletics return to serve the community.
This area of Sumter County, Florida is one special place. Billy Goble is just one of the many amazing people who are giving back to the community that gave to them. We absolutely love what Billy is doing and we look forward to hearing more great stories of South Sumter Athletes in the near future. Be sure to check out The Goblay Show in You Tube here:
