Eustis High junior quarterback Jackson Currie is emerging as one of the top young talents in Central Florida, already putting up big numbers in a season that has tested the Panthers early on.

Jackson has thrown for more than 547 yards and six touchdowns through three games, contributing to nearly 700 total yards of offense for Eustis. Despite a 1-2 start, the Panthers have remained competitive in every outing this season, with the junior signal-caller providing a steady and dynamic presence under center.

“I began playing football when I was around 5 years old and it was something I really loved immediately,” Jackson says. “Honestly my Dad has been a role model for me and hearing his story and wanting to be able to play at such a high level of ball that he had aspired to so many years ago.”

Jackson also credits his mom and quarterbacks coach Michael Cullison as key influences. Coach Cullison has guided him for the past two years, shaping both his game and character.

“Coach Cullison definitely has taught me so much on and off the field, as he has shown me so many life lessons and how to become the man and player I will develop into as I get older,” Jackson says. Football, he added, “has taught me leadership and the value of turning a group of players into family.”

Jackson knows a thing about hard work and the ups and downs of the sport. Jackson grew up watching really good Eustis teams win district championships in the early 2020s. He has also seen Eustis football go through some challenging times. As a three year starter since he was a freshman, Jackson has been under multiple head coaches but has remained committed to the Eustis program which is one of the most historic programs in Lake County. And there’s a good reason for that. Jackson has the motivation to play beyond high school.

“I want to be able to play at the highest level in the sport. To be remembered and have people know who I am and where I come from. That no matter where you come from you can achieve anything.”

One highlight that already stands out this season was the week 1 game against Leesburg. Jackson spun out of the pocket, stepped up and delivered a perfect touchdown pass. “My favorite moment has definitely been week 1 vs Leesburg this season,” he says. Eustis would win the rivalry game 40-22 to open the season.

Jackson also points to the support system at Eustis High as a major strength. “My favorite thing about Eustis High School is the people as everyone supports each other no matter how good or bad things are going.”

He also spoke highly of his offensive line, calling them family. “My offensive line is my family and the closest people I am with as they have my back just as I have theirs. Even with the ups and downs outside of football I can trust them that they will be there for me.”

Away from his own development, Jackson gives back by working with the Jr. Panthers Pop Warner football program whenever possible. He enjoys helping coach younger players and giving back to the game he loves.

Jackson’s best advice to the next generation is “Be the 1%. The person that goes to work out when no one is watching. The person that does not take no as an answer and to never give up on your dreams.”

With the rest of this year and next year to develop, Jackson is committed to working toward his dream of becoming an NCAA Division 1 football player.

“My future goals and dreams is to become the best player and come out of Lake County and make D1 as I truly do believe I will do it.”

Jackson is one of our areas top breakout talents this season. This junior has untapped potential and his football IQ is some of the best in Lake County. Coaches and scouts will want to keep a good eye on this young player as he continues to exceed expectations.
