Burlington opened its new Leesburg location Friday morning, drawing a line of customers eager to shop opening-day deals and grab one of the $10 opening weekend coupons.

The store, located at 923 N 14th St., opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony before shoppers quickly filled the aisles. Within minutes, customers headed for clothing racks, home décor and housewares, with one group of women loading carts with decorative chairs, plates, bedding and other items for their homes.

Before the celebration began, organizers paused for a moment of remembrance, marking the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Store Manager Susanne Clark says the opening represents more than just another place to shop.

“We’re very proud to be here, bring some revitalizing and jobs to Leesburg,” Susanne says.

Burlington hired more than 60 employees for the new location, according to Susanne, who thanked the store’s management team, district managers and associates for helping prepare the location for opening.

“We are thrilled to be here,” Susanne says. “Welcome to your Burlington.”

The company also marked the occasion by giving back to the local community, presenting a $5,000 donation to Beverly Shores Elementary School.

School representatives accepted the check during the opening celebration and expressed their appreciation for the support.

“We’re so very excited to be accepting this $5,000 check on behalf of the teachers,” a school representative says.

Susanne says Burlington is looking forward to becoming part of the Leesburg community while offering the deals and name-brand merchandise the retailer is known for.

The Leesburg Burlington is open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
