Samantha Scott, a third-generation Sumter County resident and community leader, has announced her candidacy for Florida House District 52.

“My roots and love for this community run deep,” Samantha says. “As a third-generation resident, community servant, and business leader, I understand the unique needs of our rural and growing communities. I look forward to representing our community in Tallahassee.”

(Samantha Scott announced she is running for Florida House District 52.)

Samantha is a Realtor with Connie Mahan Real Estate and serves as Director of Marketing for Mike Scott Plumbing. She previously held the role of Executive Director of the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce, where she worked to strengthen ties between local businesses and the community.

Active in civic life, Samantha has served as Secretary of the Sumter County Youth Center Board of Directors and on the Leesburg High School Construction Academy Advisory Board. She is a member of the Realtors Association of Lake and Sumter Counties, the Sumter County Farm Bureau, and the Sumter County Fair Association.

(Samantha Scott has been heavily involved with community events and is also on the Lake-Sumter State College District Board of Trustees.)

In 2023, she was appointed to the Make America Florida Committee by then-Florida GOP Chair Christian Ziegler. She also serves as Chair of the Republican Party of Sumter County and Vice President of the Sumter County Republican Club.

Samantha was appointed to the Lake-Sumter State College District Board of Trustees, a role she calls a privilege.

“It’s an incredible honor to be appointed to the Lake Sumter State College District Board of Trustees,” she says. “LSSC plays such an important role in opening doors, creating opportunities, and strengthening our community.”

Samantha was also previously recognized as one of Lake & Sumter Style Magazine’s “Top 40 Under 40.”

She will be attempting to unseat incumbent John Temple from Wildwood, who has held the position having been elected in November of 2022.
