Karen Guptill’s journey as the owner of Lake Uniforms is a testament to the power of hard work and dedication. After working in practical nursing for 20 years, Karen felt the need for a change, so in March 2003, she decided to open her own medical clothing store. Working by herself for six days a week, Karen did medical transcribing on the side until her business could sustain itself.
Today, Lake Uniforms—celebrating 20 years in business—provides medical uniforms for a variety of institutions, including schools like Lake Tech, and the medical community at large. The store also offers embroidery on site, and with the largest selection of medical uniforms in Lake County, Karen assures her customers that they will have something for everyone, but If not, she will find it.
“What sets us apart is my presence in the store. As the owner, I’m there every day,” Karen says, adding that she loves what she does so much, she doesn’t even consider it work. “I know my clients by name, and I know their likes and dislikes. We still have a lot of the same accounts we’ve had since the beginning and are always looking to offer the very best and latest trends.”
