Umatilla High School’s Carson Logan impressed so many at the State Championship weightlifting competition last weekend in Lakeland, Florida. He was the only Umatilla High School weightlifer to medal at the state championships. Carson would go on to finish 6th in the FHSAA Class 1A District Championship in the 183 pound class.

While he may not have won the competition, even finishing 6th in a very competitive field of 20 athletes means something for this scholar. Carson is not just an athlete but is also one of the smartest young men at Umatilla High School. He is currently ranked 11th out of 186 students. Carson has a 5.09 GPA. His future plans are to attend Lake-Sumter State College to major in business.

Currently, Carson is part of the Umatilla High School AICE Program which are Cambridge level college classes that allow high school students to graduate with college credits that they can put towards a degree. Carson will graduate with 28 credits. Carson played varsity football along with weightliftin all four years he was at Umatilla High.

When he is not doing athletic events Carson enjoyes many activities like playing the guitar. He is also very active in his church and is always around to pump his teammates up before games. “Carson is the very definition of a student-athlete and Umatilla High School is so proud of his achievements.” says Umatilla athletic director Patrick Todd.

Carson Logan might be coming into the final months of his time at Umatilla High School but he has left a lasting impression at Umatilla High. He is a kid that personifies hard work. He puts academics first but has been successful in athletics. We wish Carson the best of luck on his future endeavors! Go Carson!
