Cirque Italia’s Water Circus Makes a Splash at Lake Square Mall

A towering blue-and-white tent has transformed the parking lot at Lake Square Mall into an immersive aquatic stage as Cirque Italia’s Water Circus “Nautilus” brings its high-energy spectacle to town.

Known as the largest traveling water circus in the United States and Canada, Cirque Italia has captivated more than one million spectators annually since its founding in 2012. Now, the production has anchored in Leesburg for a limited run, blending acrobatics, theatrical flair and dance-club energy into a nearly two-hour performance that keeps audiences engaged from start to finish.

Inside the tent, performers take to a custom water stage that reflects lights and amplifies the drama of every stunt. The show features gravity-defying acrobats, Latin-inspired rhythms, comedic moments and audience participation that keeps the atmosphere lively. The ringmaster, described by many as “a hoot,” sets the tone early, weaving humor throughout the production and drawing spectators into the action.

From daring aerial routines to effortless balancing acts and fast-paced choreography, “Nautilus” leans into both spectacle and showmanship. The production includes an intermission, giving guests time to grab refreshments before the second half ramps up the energy once again.
