Erin Fox Shares Her Passion for Giving New Life to Old Things Through Art

For Erin Fox, creativity has always been a way of life. Growing up in Maryland, she was surrounded by inspiration thanks to her parents, who renovated their home and barn to include a fully stocked workshop, even creating a basement under the house and to turn it into a ceramics studio. Those early experiences fostered a love for creating something new and beautiful from objects that had been tossed aside and forgotten.
That passion eventually led Erin to launch her own business, reThreads: Foxy Style, in honor of her heritage and a twist on her last name. Erin’s business name came from her mother’s business name, reThreads, but she is walking in her own way as reThreads: Foxy Style.
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Erin’s husband purchased a laser machine, which opened a new artistic path. She began creating intricate 3D laser-cut wooden art, which quickly became the foundation of her business. As a wife and mother, her art not only adds to the family income but also serves as an example for her children.
“I was created to create,” Erin says. “I love that every piece I make is unique and seeing people excited to find a new piece to add to their collection or give as a gift. But also with the way the pieces are layered it is always a surprise how it’s going to look when it is done.”
Recently, she expanded her creativity in a fun, unexpected direction. Erin stumbled across old vending machines and decided to refurbish them, filling them with small handmade items.
“These vending machines contain all handmade items from 3D printed fidgets to trading pins, magnets, and even leather bracelets printed with inspirational phrases,” she says.
Based in Howey-in-the-Hills, Erin brings her creations to markets and festivals all over Central Florida. Her art is also available locally at Treasure Marts in the Lake Square Mall, Willowbees in Leesburg, and soon at Lake Life Outpost in downtown Leesburg. She is a regular vendor at Whimsy Markets and the Fresh Market at Ferran, held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 5 to 8 p.m.
