Eustis Fire Department Celebrates New Tower Truck

Tower 22 is officially in service! Friday, June 6, the Eustis Fire Department held a Push-In Ceremony to celebrate the addition of a new truck to their force.
The community had the opportunity to join the tradition by taking part in the Push-In Ceremony. The event also featured tours, interactive experiences and photo opportunities. The highlight was a hands-on moment when Eustis residents and community members worked together to push the new fire truck into Eustis Fire Station 22.
The Push-In Ceremony dates back to the 1800s, when fire crews would push horse-drawn wagons back into station. Today, this ceremony involves pushing a new fire truck into station to celebrate the beginning of its service.
The newest addition to the Eustis Fire Department’s fleet is a powerful and versatile resource. Equipped to tackle a variety of emergencies, the truck can extend up to 100 feet vertically and 93 feet horizontally, making it well suited for reaching the tallest buildings in Eustis.
Tower 22 also boasts a 300-gallon water tank and a 2,000 GPM Pump. Additionally, it is capable of providing advanced life support and facilitating vehicle rescues, high angle rescues and rope rescues, which further enhances the department’s ability to serve the community.
“This new truck gives our lieutenants and drivers the tools they need to make fast, smart decisions in emergency situations,“ Deputy Chief Shawn Kelleher explained. “It’s an impressive piece of equipment that was built to save lives.”
Tower 22 will enable the Eustis Fire Department to support Eustis’ growing community. Equipped for a range of functions, the new truck is a symbol of progress and preparedness for the future.
