EUSTIS, Fla. — Joie Kendrick, a standout swimmer from Eustis High School, has committed to Heidelberg University, continuing her athletic and academic journey at the collegiate level.

Kendrick, who has been a key competitor for the Eustis Panthers, swam all four years in high school and has been part of a relay team since her freshman year. She began swimming in elementary school, developing a passion for the sport that led to multiple appearances at the FHSAA Regional Championships. Kendrick views her high school swimming career as a valuable learning experience.

(Joie was very excited as she signed her commitment letter to continue her swimming and academic career at Heidelburg University in Ohio.)

“Swimming has taught me so much,” Kendrick said. “It has helped me learn how to stay motivated and not quit when going through something rough.”

Outside the pool, Kendrick is active in her faith and leadership roles. She was baptized before the start of her senior year and is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Leadership program at Eustis High.

Joie was one of Eustis High’s top swimmers the past four years.)

Kendrick draws inspiration from her stepmother, Sarah Kendrick, who has overcome significant health challenges having been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in her early 20s. Despite battling seizures and epilepsy, Sarah recently placed third in the world at the CrossFit Games.

“She is a major source of inspiration,” Joie said. “She pushed herself to achieve the goals she set out for and I am very proud of her.”

(Very exciting day for the Kendrick family. Congratulations to Joie for this milestone in her life!)

At Heidelberg University, Kendrick plans to study Criminal Justice, a field she became interested in through watching criminal investigative shows. Congratulations to her family, friends and coaching staff. This is very exciting and we wish her the best of luck at Heidelburg University!
