Eustis High’s Coach Wesley Green Named Lake & Sumter Style 2024 Boys Basketball Coach of the Year

Eustis boys basketball coach Wesley Nino Green has been named Lake & Sumter Style Magazine Boys Basketball Coach of the Year. Green has taken Eustis High School to new heights during the 2023/2024 basketball season. But while his coaching abilities are incredible, it’s his poise and dedication to the community and students off the court that make him so special. Coach Green grew up playing basketball at Eustis High School.

Over the years, coach Green has been present around Lake County. He took over the boys basketball head coaching position from Coy Patterson, who was also a fantastic coach in our area. Unfortunately, coach Patterson stepped down as head coach a few years ago due to a conflict with a new job.

That propelled Patterson’s former assistant coach Wesley Green to the head coaching position. The positive impact that Patterson had on the Eustis High basketball program was highly evident when Green took the program over. His teaching and his philosophies echo what Patterson had set for Eustis High.

This season, Green has Eustis on a terrific run. Statistically, this is one of the best teams since the 2013-2014 year. That team went to the Regional Finals that season. It’s not only on the court where coach Green shines; it’s off the court as well. He is one of the most well-respected coaches in Lake County. He is very involved with FCA, is a man of faith, and when people speak about him, they have nothing but kind words to describe who he is as a person.

Coaches are so much more than just teachers of the game. From work ethic to how they compose themselves in the community, Wesley Green embodies everything a coach should be. The same can be said for all of the nominees. From coach Sean Campbell, coach Patrick Todd, and coach Colt McDowell, each one of these men would give the shirt off their backs to their student-athletes, and each one has made such a positive impact on our communities.

Congratulations to all the nominees this season, and congratulations to Coach Wesley Nino Green for winning the 2024 Coach of the Year for Lake & Sumter County Boys Basketball.
