Eustis Police Investigating Two Recent Pedestrian Accidents, One Unsolved

Two recent fatal crashes in Eustis have left families grieving and law enforcement urging drivers to pay closer attention on local roadways.
According to the Eustis Police Department, on Feb. 20, 48-year-old Tracy Schievenin was riding a bicycle southbound on Lakeshore Boulevard when she was struck from behind by a vehicle near Eustis Road at approximately 6:30am.

Emergency responders pronounced Tracy deceased at the scene. The driver fled and remains at large. Eustis police say they are working on a couple of leads but are still asking for the community’s help in bringing justice to Tracy’s family.
Weeks later, on March 18, 61-year-old Teresa Ann Ramsey was struck by a vehicle near Ohio Street and East Orange Avenue at about 1:20pm following an altercation with her boyfriend.
Teresa was transported to AdventHealth Waterman in Tavares, where she later died. The driver remained at the scene, but their name has not been released. The Eustis Police Department and Mount Dora Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit are working the case together. No additional details have been released.
“We have the highest ticket writing in the county because people are not paying attention when they are driving,” says Chief Capri of the Eustis Police Department. “I urge people to pay attention, fasten their seatbelts and put the cell phones away. Safety is always important.”

The Eustis Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding Tracy’s hit-and-run to contact the agency or call Crimeline at 1.800.423.8477.
