Extraordinary People: Holly Nichols

Holly Nichols
In August 2025, Holly Nichols was working an event for her business, Blushing Bubbles, when the entire left side of her body suddenly stopped working.
The vibrant businesswoman soon learned she had glioblastoma, a rare and highly aggressive form of brain cancer.
“There’s a defining line all of a sudden,” Holly says. “There’s like a before and after.”
Surgery, seizures and limited mobility followed. Holly lost much of her independence, and in March, doctors told her husband, Rob, that she had only days to live. She entered hospice, but two weeks later told him she felt good and refused to spend her remaining time waiting to die.
Doctors did not expect Holly to regain movement on her left side, but she stubbornly proved otherwise. Today, she can move her arm, use her leg and walk with assistance, a comeback she credits entirely to God.
“There’s no explanation for the peace that I have about it, other than God,” she says. “Knowing that whatever happens to me, I’m gonna be okay. I mean, I’ll win either way.”
“Plus, I’m stubborn.”
Holly has surpassed the first life expectancy estimate she received, and her latest MRI showed no new growth or progression. She credits Rob and her family for support beyond measure and now openly shares her health updates, faith and Bible studies online, hoping her experience serves as encouragement and hope for others.
“I figure it helps me and maybe it will help somebody else,” she says.
One verse in particular, Psalm 118:17, has become her declaration: “I shall not die, but live to declare the works of the Lord.”
Holly continues asking God for more time with the people she loves but trusts that her life and purpose remain in his hands.
“It’s not me,” she says. “I still know who’s in control.”
