Former South Lake High Football Star TJ McCoy Hosting Football Camp
Former South Lake High School football star T.J. McCoy, who played for the University of Florida, along with former New England Patriots defensive lineman Corey Vareen, who attended West Orange High School in Winter Garden, will be hosting a football camp in Groveland, Florida, on July 20th and 27th from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM at 13806 SR-33, Groveland, Florida 34736.
This training session is geared towards defensive and offensive lineman training. Defensive line training is only $15, while offensive line training is $5. Participants must bring their own helmets and pads. Payment is due before training starts.
T.J. McCoy was one of the great offensive linemen to come through the South Lake High School program. Upon graduating from South Lake High, T.J. enrolled at N.C. State in January of 2015 but transferred to Florida in the summer. He played on both sides of the offensive and defensive line for Coach Mark Woolum. T.J. is the son of former Florida Gators defensive tackle Tony McCoy, who played in the NFL for the Indianapolis Colts from 1992-1999 and the Arizona Cardinals in the early 2000s.
Meanwhile, Corey Vareen played for Tennessee under head coach Butch Jones. He went undrafted in the 2017 NFL draft but ended up with the New England Patriots during the 2017 season. He also played with the Memphis Express in the Alliance of American Football and would have played in the United Football League but ultimately decided to seek out other opportunities.
This training is only for 8th-12th graders. This is a big opportunity for kids in the local community to come out and polish their skills. The price is also very affordable. To register, visit www.empoweringyp.com/events.
