This Wednesday marked a strong kickoff to the high school golf season with the inaugural FCA High School Pre-Season Invitational Golf Tournament at the beautiful Country Club of Mount Dora.

(The first high school golf match of the year was a competitive one! It’s shaping up to be a great season.)

The preseason event gave teams a valuable opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season, with competition that was both spirited and inspiring. Participating schools included:

  • Mount Dora High School

  • East Ridge High School

  • Foundation Academy

  • Lake Minneola High School (boys and girls)

  • The First Academy Orlando

  • Mount Dora Christian Academy

Top individual scores:

  • Logan Melde (Foundation Academy), 37

  • Simmone Hymiller (East Ridge High School), 43

Team results:

  1. Foundation Academy — 118

  2. Mount Dora Christian Academy — 124

  3. Lake Minneola — 126

  4. East Ridge — 129

  5. Mount Dora High — 130

  6. The First Academy Orlando — 142

  7. Lake Minneola (girls) — 157

This was a very strong performance from the Lake County teams especially Mount Dora Christian Academy who finished 2nd just a few shots off Foundation Academy. MDCA is coming in with perhaps the best team in school history and will be one of the toughest to beat in Lake County this year. Lake Minneola, East Ridge and Mount Dora are all very close to MDCA as well. It will be interesting to see how this season shakes out. One thing is for sure, we are in for a spectacular season of high school golf!

(The FCA Golf Event was very well organized and brought out some awesome competition.)

Special thanks to State Farm agent Kim Varnadore for helping sponsor the event and making it possible for these student-athletes to shine.

“We’re excited to see how these teams grow throughout the season,” says Bobby D. Rowe, FCA director for North Lake County. “Stay tuned for more FCA events that combine competition, community, and Christ-centered impact.”
