Lady Lake Looking for Person Who Damaged Veterans Memorial

Lady Lake police are searching for the driver of a golf cart that struck and damaged a marble stone marker at Veterans Memorial Park off Paige Place near Spanish Springs Town Square in The Villages.
The incident occurred Saturday, Sept. 20, causing an estimated $1,500 in damage to the memorial. Surveillance video captured the golf cart overturning after hitting the marker, with bystanders seen helping the driver flip the vehicle upright. The driver then left the scene without reporting the crash.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt. Charles Gehrsitz at 352-751-1564 or via email at cgehrsitz@ladylake.org.
Officials said the memorial is an important landmark honoring veterans, and the city hopes to hold the responsible party accountable for the damage.
