Lake County Commission to Consider Road Designation Honoring Charlie Kirk

The Lake County Commission will discuss a resolution this Tuesday to designate a road in memory of Charlie Kirk.

The proposal, scheduled for a vote during the commission’s regular meeting at 9 a.m. Sept. 23 in downtown Tavares, would apply to a roadway connecting Lake and Orange counties. Commissioner Anthony Sabatini says the dedication is meant to honor “the life of a great American” and has encouraged residents to attend and speak in favor of the proposal.

Charlie Kirk was a conservative activist, author, and public speaker known for founding Turning Point USA, an organization that works to promote free markets and conservative values among youth. He gained prominence for his political commentary and campus work, and his death on Sept. 10 sparked significant discussion about public discourse and political activism.

If the designation is approved, the road will be formally named in his memory, adding to Lake County’s list of memorial roadways named for individuals who have made a local or national impact.

The public meeting will be held at 9 a.m. in the County Administration Building, 315 W. Main St., Tavares. Residents are invited to attend and lend their voices in support.
