Lake Minneola Bowler Chris Caponi Nears PBA Pro Status

Chris Caponi
How it began: I first got interested in bowling around September 2023. My dad used to bowl sometimes and I would go and watch him. I started using house balls myself and always wanted to bowl with him. Eventually, my parents bought me my first real (custom) ball and that’s where I really started to pick it up.
Greatest achievement: Placing 4th in the first tournament I competed in.
Topping my playlist: “You’re the Inspiration” by Chicago.
My goals: In bowling, I’m trying to get my first 300 score and I am working towards earning my PBA pro membership. To do this, you have to play 36 league or tournament games with an average of over 200. I am only 12 games away from earning this with my new high average, which is really exciting.
When I’m not competing: I absolutely love going for bike rides and long walks and watching movies.
A person I look up to: Definitely my dad. Everything I’m into, all the sports teams I root for and the sports I play, are all because of him.
Future plans: I’d love to go to college for psychology and eventually become a peer counselor.
Fun fact: I’ve appeared in several commercials and promotional shoots for businesses and theme parks like Disney since I was a toddler.
My advice: Never be intimidated by others around you. Just go out there, play your game and worry about yourself. Don’t worry about what other people think or what your opponents are doing, just focus on you.
Hidden talent: I’m pretty good at ping pong.
