Lake Minneola High Gymnast Jocelyn Sasson Signs With University of Florida
Clermont, Fla. — Jocelyn Sasson, a standout senior gymnast at Lake Minneola High School and one of the nation’s top gymnastics recruits, has officially committed to the University of Florida this morning. It’s a dream come true for Jocelyn and we couldn’t be more excited for her and her family. With a 4.5 GPA and a list of accolades both on and off the mat, Sasson embodies the spirit of hard work, resilience, and academic excellence.
Training at Brandy Johnson’s Gymnastics in Clermont since the age of three, Sasson has risen to become a Level 10 gymnast, ranked 5th among recruitable gymnasts in the U.S. for the class of 2025. Her prowess includes three USAG Development Program National Team selections and three National Championship titles. Balancing rigorous training with academics, she is also a member of the National Honor Society and actively serves within The Lakeside Church.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join such an esteemed program and continue my gymnastics career with the Gators,” said Sasson, who signed her letter of commitment today. The UF gymnastics team is ranked second nationally. For Sasson it’s the culmination of everything she has worked her entire life towards. Although she is coming to the tail end of her high school journey, the real journey is just beginning as she will compete at the NCAA Division 1 level. Sassan plans to major in Psychology, with ambitions to merge her athletic experience with a career in mental health or sports psychology.
Her advice to younger athletes is both heartfelt and hard-earned: “Be authentic and don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Control the things you can control, and maintain a positive mindset. Keep trusting in the Lord and watch your hard work pay off.” Incredible words of advice from Sasson and we couldn’t agree more.
Sasson’s signing at Lake Minneola High School this morning was an emotional moment. We are so proud of Jocelyn and we cannot wait to see what she does at UF in the coming years!
