MINNEOLA, Fla. (AP) — Lake Minneola High School has reached a historic milestone, with its graduation rate for the 2023-2024 school year soaring to 98%, a significant increase from the previous year’s 96%. This achievement is one that has been years in the making. The staff at Lake Minneola High School works incredibly hard and this is reflective of their efforts.

Principal William Roberts, now in his second year at the helm after a decade at Windy Hill Middle School, expressed immense pride in the collaborative efforts of the entire school community, including administration, guidance counselors, and teachers.“As the proud principal of Lake Minneola High School, I am delighted to see the hard work of our students, teachers, and staff reflected in this significant accomplishment,” Roberts said. “At our school, education is about more than just knowledge; it’s about nurturing well-rounded individuals who are ready to thrive in a complex and ever-changing world.”

He shared that the class of 2025 will be the largest graduating class in the school’s history, with over 615 students set to graduate. For principal Roberts he has also enjoyed seeing former students come to Lake Minneola High and find their way. “Its been a joy to see kids who were part of Windy Hill Middle School come through Lake Minneola and have amazing success. Everyone at this school has so much potential and it’s our job to unlock that potential and get them across that stage to receive their diploma at the end of the year,” says Principal Roberts.

“We have a team of dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to help our students succeed,” said Roberts. “Our students are encouraged to pursue different paths after graduation, whether that’s continuing education, joining the military, or entering the workforce. This success is the result of our collective effort.”

Roberts also highlighted the school’s robust Night School program, one of the largest in Lake County. The program caters to students who work during the day, participate in family businesses, or are athletes, giving them the flexibility to study in the evening. Additionally, new Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the Cambridge AICE program have helped to further enhance the school’s academic offerings.

“This is truly a team effort, and I’m incredibly proud of our students, their families, and the entire staff for helping to make this possible,” Roberts added. “Our goal for next year is to push that graduation rate even higher, ideally to 99% or 100%. We are committed to ensuring that every student has the support they need to succeed.”

Congratulations to everyone at Lake Minneola High School. This is a very positive sign and we wish the school the best of luck as they attempt to further increase that number this upcoming May.
