Lake & Sumter County High School Boys Basketball Player of the Year Voting

This is the first annual Lake & Sumter County Basketball Player of the Year voting. You the people get to vote for who should be the best basketball player of the year! There are some amazing athletes in this years finalists. Lets take a look at the list in no particular order.

Jermarien Williams (SR) – Leesburg High: Averaging 8 points per game, 8 rebound per game and 3 assists.

Jarett Johnson (SR) – Real Life Christian Academy: Averaging 15 points per game, 5 rebounds per game. Jarett recently broke the school record for three-pointers made in a game with 13 total as well as total points scored with 45.

Chris Washington (SO) – The Villages Charter: Averaging 15.7 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game and has 36 blocked shots.

Javeon Dale – (SR) Eustis High: Averaging 14.4 points per game, leads team with 82 steals.

Herly Brutus (SO) – Umatilla High: Averaging 16 points per game, leads team in assists with 159, leads team in steals with 85, leads team in blocks with 108, averaging 10 rebounds per game.

Javi Rowell (SR) – Mount Dora Christian Academy: Averaging 16.5 points per game, 3 rebounds per game, Leads team in assists with 71 and steals with 55.

Landon Blackwell (JR) – Lake Minneola High: Averaging 14.4 points per game, leads team with 37 steals.

Angelo Moton (SO) – Leesburg High: Averaging 14 points per game and 6 rebounds

Jared Thompson (SO) – The Villages Charter: Averaging 11 points per game and 5 rebounds per game.

Anthony Hines (JR) – Eustis High: Averaging 13.3 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game.

Adyn Corbin (JR) – The Villages High: Leads The Villages in assists with 93 and steals with 54. Averaging 10 points per game.

Jay Miller (SO) – Umatilla High: Averaging 12 points per game

Cornelius Hines (JR) – Eustis High: Averaging 11 points per game, 10 rebounds per game. Leads team with 252 rebounds this season.

Isaiah Pina (SO) – South Lake High: Averaging 14 points per game, 8 rebounds per game.

About the Author: Kyle Coppola

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.

For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.

Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
