Helping students is what Laura Byrd enjoys most about her job as executive director of Lake-Sumter State College Foundation, which provided over 750 scholarships worth more than $600,000 in 2019.

“With everything that has been going on with COVID-19, we’re looking at ways we can help students with food insecurity and technology needs,” Laura says, adding that students have been doing their coursework online.

“We are looking at ways to help our students stay enrolled in school and keep some normalcy in their lives with the help of our emergency assistance fund,” Laura says.
