Congratulations to Lake-Sumter State College baseball pitcher Nathan Quinn, who tossed the program’s first-ever no-hitter against MAU on Saturday, January 27th. This was a significant accomplishment not only for Nathan Quinn but also for the LSSC program. It marked the first time in program history that a pitcher achieved this remarkable feat.

A no-hitter involves a player giving up zero hits over 9 innings pitched. This is a challenging task at all levels of the game, especially at the collegiate level where the competition is fierce. Coach Rich Billings says ““We are all so happy to have been a part of this monumental accomplishment for Nathan!  No-hitters are such a rarity at this level of baseball and it’s a great individual honor but to be the first in program history makes it even more special.  Nathan is such a great teammate and it’s been really rewarding as a coach to see the appreciation that he has for the guys that play defense behind him. One of the most admirable qualities about Nathan is that he continues to work toward improvement and he’s very intentional about it.  This is a great kickstart for his confidence as we move through the spring and I’m really looking forward to seeing what he does next.”

Quinn is in his sophomore year at Lake-Sumter State College. He had previously played college baseball at Daytona State College in 2022, where he took a redshirt season. A left-handed pitcher, Quinn has been dominant this year. Originally from Palm Coast, Florida, he played his high school baseball career at Matanzas High School. Quinn was named the Region 8 baseball pitcher of the week in late January and, in February 2024, he was honored as Lakehawk of the Month.

Quinn is pursuing a degree in business management. He chose to continue playing baseball at Lake-Sumter State College because of the coaching staff. Off the field, Quinn enjoys golfing, going to the beach, and water sports. He was a member of the 2022-2023 NJCAA All-American Team and the Sun-Lakes Conference Academic Team.

Congratulations to Nathan Quinn, and best of luck for the rest of the 2024 college baseball season!
