Leesburg High School Football Head Coach Frank Scott Steps Down
LEESBURG, Fla. — Leesburg High School is parting ways with head football coach Frank Scott after a single season in which he led the Yellow Jackets to a 6-5 record and an FHSAA playoff berth. Athletic Director Spencer Hey announced the departure on Tuesday, adding that the school plans to name Scott’s successor in the coming days.
Scott joined Leesburg after a highly successful tenure at Eustis High School, where he guided the Panthers to back-to-back district championships. He brought his winning pedigree to Leesburg and quickly made an impact, leading the Yellow Jackets to their second postseason appearance in a row just a year after Leesburg High lost their head coach Steven Moffett who left for TFA in Orlando. Despite a valiant effort, Leesburg’s playoff run ended in a first-round regional defeat against Vanguard High School.
Scott’s departure leaves a notable void for the Yellow Jackets, who saw significant progress in his short tenure. “Coach Scott leaves Leesburg High School on great terms, he did it the right way and was very communicative during the process. I am grateful for his time here at Leesburg High School and the impact he had on our kids.” said Leesburg High athletic director Spencer Hey.
Scott’s next move remains unclear. There have been rumors floating around about a certain program but we are not able to confirm at this time. With coach Scott’s impressive coaching resume—highlighted by his ability to turn programs into playoff contenders—suggests he will remain a sought-after figure in Florida high school football. We certainly wish him the best wherever he ends up.
Leesburg now turns its attention to finding a new head coach capable of building on Scott’s foundation. With key players graduating and coaching staff changes underway, the Yellow Jackets face another pivotal offseason. This will be Leesburg High’s fourth different head football coach in four years.
