Mount Dora Christian Academy Record-Breaking Junior is One of the State’s Top Throwers

Greenlea Salazar

Getting started: I got started in the sport of throwing javelin and discus about four years ago thanks to my middle school coach, Kevin Von Maxey.
Greatest sports achievements: Medaling at State for girls javelin throw as a freshman and then medaling again at the Junior Olympics.
Life lessons: Sports have taught me that you get out of life what you put into it and that you can always work towards a goal.
Future goals: I’m working toward setting a new personal record, medaling at State next year and earning a scholarship to compete in college.
Pre-game ritual: I don’t really have one besides just making sure I’m warmed up.
For fun: I love going to the beach, going out on the boat, fishing and listening to music.
Topping my playlist: Treaty Oak Revival.
Biggest inspiration: My parents have taught me so much and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them and their coaching.
My message: Do it when you’re tired, do it when you don’t want to and do it when no one is watching because only you can get yourself to where you want to be.
Fun fact: I also play volleyball and softball.
