Leesburg High’s Mileysa Lebron Escudero Unofficially Breaks State Weightlifting Record
Mileysa Lebron Escudero who is a girls weightlifter for Leesburg High School unofficially broke the Florida state record for the Snatch. While we will have to wait for districts, regionals and the state finals, the amount of weight she put up broke the record.
Mileysa competes in the 101 pound weight class. During a recent competition Mileysa was able to lift 125 lbs in the Snatch. That lift is currently 10 pounds over the current FHSAA 101 pound weight class state record for Snatch of 115 lbs. That is an amazing effort and head coach Josh Boyer was fired up about it. “Remember the name Mileysa Lebron Escudero. Her performance at the Suwannee Power of Christmas tournament was just great. She either broke or tied all Leesburg school records for our historic 101 pound wait class. 125 lbs in the Snatch, 155 CJ, 125 lbs Pause Bench, and 280 lbs Olympic Total,” says coach Boyer.
Coach Boyer is coming off of a double state championship victory with the Leesburg High School girls weightlifting team. Last year was the first time in school history that Leesburg had ever won a double state championship in Olympic and Traditional weightlifting as a team.
It’s not just Mileysa who is having a big year either. Defending 2A State Champion Navaeh Wells has been looking unstoppable so far this season. She will look to end her career with a state championship as well.
Coach Josh Boyer has this team looking in peak form as Districts are coming up in just three short weeks. Leesburg is the favorite in Districts, Regionals and States. The question will be, can any team stop the Yellow Jackets from once again headed to Lakeland and cleaning house?
