High school volleyball teams from Lake & Sumter County are gearing up for the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) playoffs, with several local squads poised for action. The stakes are high as teams across different classifications look to make their mark in the postseason. Games will be on Tuesday night as part of the Regional Quarterfinal rounds.

In Class 3A, The Villages Charter School earned the No. 4 seed and will host Cocoa Beach High Tuesday at 7 p.m. Montverde Academy, the No. 2 seed, is also hosting, with a match against Space Coast High School, set for 7 p.m. as well. Both teams are eyeing deep playoff runs after strong regular seasons. The Villages put together a strong district performance against Montverde Academy. Good luck to both programs.

Over in Class 4A, Eustis High School secured a spot as the No. 8 seed and will face a tough test on the road against top-seeded Bishop Moore High School who is the #1 seed. Mount Dora High School, seeded No. 4, will travel to Hernando to take on the No. 5 seed in what promises to be a competitive matchup. Meanwhile, Tavares High School, the No. 7 seed, will make the trip to Merritt Island to face off against the No. 2 seed. Each team is prepared for the challenges ahead as they look to continue their postseason journey. Tavares is looking for a big upset and Mount Dora High had an incredible year. Very much looking forward to seeing if any of these teams can extend their season.

(A successful regular season for Mount Dora High. They took district runner-up against Bishop Moore for the second year in a row. They are an FHSAA #4 Seed in Class 4A.)

In Class 6A, Lake Minneola High School has a lot to celebrate after winning their district for the first time since 2012. As a result, despite being the No. 6 seed, they will host a playoff game against No. 3 seed Niceville High School at 6 p.m. The game represents a major milestone for the program, as the Hawks look to carry the momentum of their district title into a successful playoff run. This is a very difficult test against a Niceville team that’s looked strong down the stretch.

(The Lake Minneola High Lady Hawks won the first District Championship since 2012. A massive accomplishment for this school.)

We will give updates when all games are final. Good luck girls! You’ve already made us proud making the playoffs! Best of luck.
