Men of Success 2026 – UF Health Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Care

UF Health Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Care
At UF Health, heart, vascular and thoracic care is defined by innovation, precision and a commitment to treating the whole patient, not just the condition.
Serving Lake, Marion and Sumter counties, the program brings together advanced surgical techniques and experienced specialists to deliver comprehensive care close to home. From minimally invasive procedures to complex cardiac and thoracic surgeries, patients have access to leading-edge treatment options designed to improve outcomes and speedy recovery.
That level of heart and vascular care is led by physicians like Dr. Hiep Nguyen, MD, FACS, a renowned cardiothoracic surgeon and medical director of Cardiovascular Services. Dr. Nguyen specializes in complex cardiac and thoracic procedures and is the first and only heart surgeon in the region to offer several advanced techniques, including robotic-assisted heart surgery and aortic grafting.
His work focuses on minimally invasive approaches whenever possible, including mitral valve repair, heart valve surgery and aortic procedures, allowing patients to return to their daily lives more quickly. Known for his compassionate approach, Dr. Nguyen guides patients through every step of surgery and recovery with a focus on long-term health.
Complementing that expertise is Dr. Adrian Finol, MD, who serves as medical director of the Lung Health and Cancer Center and president of the UF Cancer Program. Dr. Finol specializes in thoracic and vascular surgery, with a strong focus on lung cancer diagnosis and treatment. His expertise includes robotic and minimally invasive lung procedures, vascular interventions and complex thoracic conditions.
Together and through their leadership and presence, Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Finol have not only represented UF Health’s mission to combine advance technology, clinical expertise and compassionate care but have also raised the bar in expertise in heart, vascular and thoracic care in Lake and Sumter county – delivering a program built to support patients at every state of their life.
