Michael’s Foundation in Clermont Among Local Nonprofits Honored with Grant

Michael’s Foundation, a Clermont-based nonprofit that provides free programs and support for Veterans and their families, was recognized this week as one of ten Central Florida organizations awarded grants at Addition Financial Foundation’s 4th annual Community Giving Celebration.

The event, held Sept. 10 at the Addition Financial Arena on the University of Central Florida campus, distributed $175,000 in unrestricted funding to nonprofits dedicated to strengthening families, advancing education and building healthier, more resilient communities.

Michael’s Foundation was founded by Kriss and Larry Titus in honor of their son, Michael Titus, a U.S. Veteran and the youngest of six children, who died by suicide in 2016. The couple established the nonprofit to continue Michael’s dream of helping Veterans transition into civilian life. Today, the foundation offers free services including Veteran benefit guidance, equine-assisted learning, family enrichment programs and seasonal wellness workshops at The Farm in Clermont.

The nonprofit’s programs grew from the Titus family’s deep connection to horses and their partnership with Mark Miller of Al-Marah Arabian Horses. With equine-assisted learning as a cornerstone, Michael’s Foundation provides Veterans with opportunities for growth, healing and community support. Kriss and Larry remain active at the farm, Alan Alford offers Veteran benefit guidance, and Michael’s sister-in-law, Eileen Titus, serves as executive director coordinating programs and events.

In addition to Michael’s Foundation, other members of the 2025 Community Giving Class include Central Florida Community Arts, Community Legal Services, Embrace Health, FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools, GROW Healthy Kids, Holocaust Memorial Resource & Education Center, Kick Off for Kids, Nuevo Sendero and The Sharing Center.

“This celebration is about more than awarding funds — it’s about uplifting the missions of organizations that are making a real difference every day,” says Cristina Lehman, executive director of the Addition Financial Foundation. “We are proud to walk alongside these nonprofits, offering not only financial support but also ongoing resources, partnerships, and opportunities to help them expand their impact throughout Central Florida.”

Along with the financial awards, the Addition Financial Foundation provides year-round support through volunteer events, free access to its community room and informational workshops on topics such as media relations, fundraising and grant writing. The annual celebration also draws local leaders from government, schools, the business community and the media for networking opportunities.
