Mother Seeks Dash Cam Footage After Daughter’s Motorcycle Crash in Leesburg

A local mother is searching for dash cam footage of her daughter’s recent motorcycle accident in Leesburg, hoping to help her piece together what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.

The accident occurred near Rural King in Leesburg when an SUV pulled out in front of Amber Kennedy as she was on her way home from work. Despite her efforts to avoid the vehicle, she was thrown from her motorcycle, suffering a fractured right fibula, a fractured left clavicle, and a severe wound to her right knee that required immediate surgery. She was airlifted to a trauma center, where she remains hospitalized for ongoing treatment.

Her mom, Jen Scott, put a call out on social media to find the people that helped her daughter. While no one has come forward with the dash cam footage, one couple did get connected with them who had stopped to help.

“She’s hanging in there,” Jen says. “I’m really glad that the couple that helped her at the scene commented [on the Facebook post]. Also that they ride. It’s nice to have that connection. More like getting help from family.”

Amber has already undergone one surgery to clean out the wound on her knee and is scheduled for another procedure next week, where doctors will determine if a skin graft will be necessary. Due to the severity of the injury, she is being kept in the hospital on IV antibiotics to prevent infection, and her movement is being restricted in hopes of preserving as much skin as possible.

Initially, there was concern that the driver of the SUV may have left the scene, but it was later confirmed that they pulled into a nearby parking lot and remained there. Law enforcement has cited the driver for the accident, and Amber was determined not to be at fault.

According to Amber’s mother, one of the witnesses at the scene captured the crash on a dash cam, but it is unclear whether the footage has been turned over to authorities. She is asking anyone who may have recorded the accident or has information on how to obtain the footage to come forward. While the footage is not needed to dispute fault, Amber hopes seeing it will help her process what happened.

Anyone with information regarding the dash cam footage is encouraged to contact Leesburg police or reach out through social media channels.
