Mount Dora Christian Academy Pitcher Beckham Stirling Commits To Newberry College
MOUNT DORA, Fla. — Mount Dora Christian Academy senior pitcher Beckham Stirling has committed to Newberry College, where he will continue his baseball career while studying sports medicine.
Stirling, a senior, emerged as a key player for the Bulldogs during his junior season. On the mound, he posted a stellar 2.07 ERA, striking out 23 batters and allowing just seven earned runs over 23.2 innings. His consistency and poise in high-pressure situations were hallmarks of his game, including a breakout performance against Lake Brantley High School, one of Florida’s top programs.
“Beckham has so much raw potential,” MDCA head coach Jason Sanders said. “His work ethic is amazing, and he loves the game. We got a chance to polish his skills, and I’ll never forget his game against Lake Brantley. He’s a super coachable athlete and became an everyday guy in our lineup. I’m going to miss him and wish we had him around longer, but he’s destined for great things.” said Sanders.
Stirling contributed at the plate as well, recording 14 hits and batting .264 with 12 RBIs and two home runs.
At Newberry College, Stirling will join a program that competes in NCAA Division II. He is eager to develop further both as an athlete and a student, pursuing a degree in sports medicine.
“Beckham’s commitment to Newberry is a testament to his dedication and hard-work ethic” Sanders said. “I’m excited to see him thrive at the next level.”
Congratulations to Beckham, his family, friends, coaches and mentors. This is a big moment for him and we are very excited to see him continue to develop the next few years. Go Beckham!
