Mount Dora Delivers Truckloads of Supplies to Local Schools Thanks to Community
The City of Mount Dora recently distributed school supply donations collected during the Last Call event, where the community was invited to fill the “Fun Bus” with supplies needed by local schools. Thanks to the generosity of the community, a total of 2.5 truckloads of supplies were delivered to four local schools: Mount Dora High School, Mount Dora Middle School, Triangle Elementary, and Sorrento Elementary.
This event was made possible through a partnership with Spouses with Houses Century 21, which served as a key drop-off location, along with Barrel of Books and City Hall. The community’s support was instrumental in gathering much-needed supplies for the schools.
This year, a significant focus of this initiative was on arts supplies, recognizing the challenges many art programs have been facing. “We zeroed in on the arts supplies, as a lot of art programs were really suffering,” Cultural & Special Events Manager, Chris Carson, says. “We talked directly with art teachers to understand their needs, to make sure to get what they needed on our lists.”
This collective effort has provided vital resources to local students and teachers, helping to enrich their educational experience. The City of Mount Dora extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this initiative a resounding success.
