Mount Dora High School has a lot to be happy about. The school has achieved a 97% graduation rate in 2023, marking a 2% increase from 2022 and a 5% increase from 2020. This is terrific news for a school that has seen tremendous leadership at the top.

Principal Marlene Straughan continues to impress year after year. “I’m proud to say that Mount Dora High School is officially a ‘B’ school! We are currently the #1 ranked high school in Lake County! This is thanks to the hard work and efforts of our amazing faculty, staff, students, parents, and community stakeholders. I believe it’s also thanks to the belief that we truly are One Team. While there is still work to be done, we have a lot to celebrate and be proud of.

(Principal Marlene Straughan was honored as the Principal of the year for Lake County Schools in 2023.)

Mount Dora High School is over 100 years old, and this is one of the top graduation rates the school has ever had. This equals the 97% graduation rate that the school had in 2021. What is even more impressive is that Mount Dora High School is graduating the highest number of Black/African American students in Lake County at 96.7%. This is a terrific number, and Hispanic/Latino students are also graduating at 96%, just under Lake Minneola’s 98% in that category.

The work going into our Lake County programs continues every day. The right leadership is paving the way for the children of our community. They will be future leaders one day, and it warms our hearts to see such positive numbers coming out of Lake County.

Congratulations to everyone!
