An estimated 550+ people filled the streets of downtown Mount Dora on Sunday for the Spring Ice Cream Stroll and Pup Walk, an event that brought together local businesses, families and four-legged friends for an afternoon of sweet treats and community connection.

Held from 3 to 5pm, the event featured an expanded format this year, with 25 flavor stops hosted at businesses throughout the downtown area. For the first time, three ice cream providers — Mystic Ice Cream, Scoops on 5th and Waffles & Cream — partnered to offer a wide variety of flavors, giving attendees the opportunity to sample everything from classic favorites to specialty creations.

Organizers say the growth of the event reflects the continued popularity of Mount Dora’s walkable downtown and strong small business community.

“This year’s Ice Cream Stroll represents a huge step forward for the event,” says Rachel O’Ryan, president of the Mount Dora Area Chamber of Commerce. “Expanding from one ice cream partner to three allows us to showcase more flavors, involve more businesses, and create an even more dynamic downtown experience.”

The event also introduced a new feature this year with the addition of the Pup Walk, welcoming dogs to join their owners along the route. Participating businesses offered pet-friendly touches and treats, adding another layer to the experience.

Mount Dora Mayor James Homich noted the event’s appeal to a wide audience.

“The Mount Dora Ice Cream Stroll and Pup Walk is a wonderful showcase of our family and dog friendly historic downtown along with many of our unique merchants,” he says. “It is a fun and enjoyable event for families and canines.”

With strong turnout and positive feedback, organizers are already looking ahead. The Fall Ice Cream Stroll and Pup Walk is scheduled for Oct. 11, with tickets expected to go on sale later this summer.
