Mount Dora Softball Freshman Peyton Kolva Having Terrific Year
Peyton Kolva is just a freshman but she has had an immediate impact this year for the Mount Dora Lady Hurricanes softball team. Kolva is a 5’7″ utility player. She also is part of the basketball team.
Peyton has impressed many with how good she is at the plate. She is batting a .314 average. She has 16 hits which leads the Lady Hurricanes this year. She also has scored 20 runs which also leads the team in that category. Kolva has 2 doubles and 2 triples.
It’s safe to say that Peyton Kolva is one of Mount Dora High’s best young up-and-coming players and certainly one of the best players on the team. Peyton is not just getting it done in the batter’s box but in the field and running the bases as well.
Peyton has 7 steals this year and while that is 7 steals off of the leading base stealer Blakely Kite, that is very respectable for a freshman. Peyton also has a .880 fielding percentage. Peyton has had plenty of help from Addisson Ganus, an exciting sophomore who is averaging .412 and leads the team with 14 RBIs. Blakely Kite has scored 18 runs which is right on point with Peyton who has 20.
Another freshman who has been exciting is Carly Durden who has 15 runs scored. Durden is also a pitcher and has gotten some work this year behind Ganus and Casey. Mount Dora High is currently 8-9 on the season. They have a tough schedule to end the season but that should help them prepare for Districts that are coming up in just two weeks.
