New Publix Coming to Howey-in-the-Hills
According to the Orlando Business Journal, Publix Super Markets Inc., the well-known Lakeland-based grocer, has made a significant investment in Howey-in-the-Hills by purchasing vacant land for a new grocery store.
The recent transaction, which closed on July 23, saw Publix pay $1.966 million for the 18-acre property. The land, situated on the north side of Howey-in-the-Hills near Lake Harris, will serve as the site for a future Publix store. The property is part of the Lake Hills Planned Unit Development (PUD), a mixed-use development approved for more than 700 homes, 150,000 square feet of commercial space, and 176,000 square feet for institutional or civic uses, across from Mission Resort + Club.
As more details become available on the timeframe of building and opening, we will update this developing story.
