New Wildwood Shop Features Co-Op of Local Artisans

Saturday was the Grand Opening of the Humble Native in Wildwood, a co-op of local artisans and vendors inside a quaint location that features everything from candles and earrings to sauces and honey. The curious crowd filled the building early and was treated to a watermelon patch, locally sourced shopping, ice-cream, music and BBQ.

Owner Cheyenne Daves and her family are generations proudly raised in Wildwood and wanted to make sure that local was the theme.

“My family was all born and raised in Wildwood and we noticed that many local tourist stands didn’t sell merchandise from local vendors,” she says. “So, it’s not ‘real’ Florida.”

Cheyenne and her mom Kristina Adams were already partners in a children’s boutique called the “Humble-Potamus” and do a lot of networking with the craft people at fairs. They felt that that they needed to share the passion and products that are from this area and decided to expand.

One day as the family was enjoying a meal at Casa Agave, Cheyenne’s husband, Israel, noticed that the space across the street happened to be available and they made it happen.

“We wanted to have a little market,” Cheyenne says, “so we kept our children’s boutique and added around twenty independent vendors so everything on the market side is based in Florida.”

They also added a café to provide an experience and something you can’t buy on-line. The ice-cream is from Yoder’s Southern Creamery which is small-batch and locally sourced. They fresh bake their cookies and in the beginning of August, will be launching their own gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, featuring local products like orange marmalade and candied jalapeños.

“We’re excited to offer ten signature grilled cheese sandwiches and also build-your-own,” Cheyenne says. “We are looking forward to our new adventure and can’t wait to share it with the community.”

Including the address of this new business would have been helpful.
