The Cure All-Star Football game is an annual post-season football game played Orlando at Showalter Field in Winter Park, Florida. This year we have thirty-five Lake County students playing in the game! This is always exciting and a great chance for these athletes to put on their high school football helmets one final time.

For many of them, they will be using this game as a showcase of their skills. Many players remain unsigned to college and this is the perfect opportunity to go out in front of college scouts who are looking for talent.

Offensive Standouts

There is a ton of talent that will be on full display at for Lake County on Saturday morning. Some of the standout athletes include the Lake County Quarterbacks. Eustis QB Troy Saladin finished his senior season with 2,014 yards passing. He threw 29 touchdowns and rushed for 4 of them. He finished the year with over 2,200 yards of total offense. He should be fun to watch.

East Ridge quarterback Cole Rylski also had a decent year. He threw for 1,015 yards and had 13 touchdowns on the season.

East Ridge running back Darius Daily was impressive this year running for 1,006 yards on the season amassing 9 touchdowns.

South Lake Running back Kevens Charles also impressed us. While South Lake did not have the best record in Lake County this kid proved why he was one of the best backs in the county. Charles rushed for 1,021 yards and had 7 touchdowns. He had four games with 100+ yards.

Offensive Lineman Landon Overton for Eustis allowed Troy Saladin the massive numbers he was able to put up this year. He is a big body and a special talent. We hope Overton is able to have a big game because if you look at his hudl footage he has the talent to play at an elite level in college.

Defensive Standouts

Mount Dora High School sends Tommy Wheeler Jr. to the All-Star game. Wheeler Jr. had 82 tackles this year and was a force on defense all season long. He

Meanwhile Eustis High School’s Nick Chandler was a ton of fun to watch on the defense this year. Chandler led the Panthers in total tackles with 96 this year.

Mount Dora Christian Academy has four excellent players all headed to the All-Star event. Most of the MDCA players can play both ways. Taylor Cline played running back and had 15 touchdowns this season. Connor Calfy led the Bulldogs with 81 tackles on defense.

Special Teams

We have to give a shoutout to Cole O’Reily for Eustis High School. O’Riley is one of the best kickers in Lake County. He has a huge leg and we could absolutely see this kid playing on an NCAA roster. Watching this guy kick, he deserves a spot on an active division 1 roster or a least a division 2 roster in college. They don’t get much better than Cole O’Riley in this section of Florida.
