The Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle will host a special luncheon workshop addressing the fight against human trafficking on Thursday, April 10, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Country Club of Mount Dora, 1900 Country Club Blvd.

The event, open to the public, will feature three nationally recognized advocates working to end human trafficking. The cost to attend is $25 per person, which includes lunch. Online registration is required by April 7 at https://Registrations.DACdb.com/Register/index.cfm?EventID=77818046.

Panel of Experts

The workshop features a panel discussion with leaders at the forefront of trafficking prevention and survivor support:

  • Sonya Hightower LaBosco, Rotary District 6980 Governor and Executive Director of the Air Marshal National Council, brings over two decades of law enforcement experience and is leading a statewide effort to educate communities, support survivors, and strengthen collaboration through Rotary’s anti-trafficking initiatives.

  • Thomas J. Lares, Founder and President of United Abolitionists, Inc., is known for his work in awareness, prevention, and survivor services. He is currently developing the Abolitionist Training and Learning Center and working to establish national rehabilitation standards and stronger anti-trafficking legislation.

  • Corporal Alan Wilkett, a 27-year law enforcement veteran and co-founder of the Human Trafficking Foundation, has been a vocal advocate in the fight to end sexual exploitation. His foundation works to expand anti-trafficking strategies and public engagement.

The event is part of Rotary District 6980’s larger initiative to educate, empower, and engage communities in the fight to end human trafficking. “Every voice matters and every action counts,” the organization stated. “Let’s stand united for freedom and dignity for all.”
