On Tuesday morning, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office held a memorial service, honoring the fallen Lake County law enforcement officers from 1919 to present day.

Our Fallen Heroes:

Chief Deputy Bob C. Wilcox – Lake County Sheriff’s Office – 1919

Chief James Lee Hux – Leesburg Police Department – 1924

Town Marshal Robert Smithwick – City of Groveland – 1929

Chief Bishop W. Haney – Leesburg Police Department – 1937

Officer Jesse Beerbower – Leesburg Police Department – 1944

Officer Clinton M. Hyde – Mount Dora Police Department – 1959

Deputy Jean E. Daugharty – Lake County Sheriff’s Office – 1993

Deputy William J. Marie – Lake County Sheriff’s Office – 1994

Deputy Wayne J. Koester – Lake County Sheriff’s Office – 2005

Sheriff Christopher C. Daniels – Lake County Sheriff’s Office – 2006

Master Detention Deputy Lynn D. Jones – Lake County Sheriff’s Office – 2020
